Obviously he's been very ill for a long time but I'm still really shocked. What a legacy, though. RIP Steve.

Rest in Peace
He was a force in the industry, turning a sick Apple around to become a power house in the consumer electronics industry.
His business style might not have engendered himself to everyone, but he certainly had a vision of how to bring Apple back from the brink.
I am glad he had some time with his family, before he died.
(My comment on the PC Pro article)

The speech he gave at a Stanford graduation ceremony in 2005 suggests he was quite philosophical about it I don't know if the world has changed today, but I think it will certainly be a little less fun than it was before. He pushed things forward. That's a pretty great thing to have done. The best quote I heard was something along the lines of 'The best thing you can say is that a very large number of people will have learned of his death on a product his vision enabled to exist.' Jon

Those who will have seen the recent picture of him in the papers won't be surprised by this news.
I can't add to what so many respected world figures have already said. I can only agree that the world has lost a remarkable man.
Rest in peace Steve.

RIP Steve Jobs.
An inspiring man, the person who's keynote speeches have made me more and more enthusiastic about Apple products. I am very sad that we won't see him on stage at an Apple event, and even though he might not have gone up there again, it is sad to think we won't see him in the audience either.
Thank you, Steve, for everything you have done at Apple and everything you have helped to give us.
It is a truly sad day.

RIP Steve Jobs A sad day indeed. If it wasn't for him I would not have had the career I've had the last 16 years.

The end of a remarkable journey, by a man who spoke openly about death as our common destination.

Interestingly, there's a meme floating round Twitter this morning: An allegorical story, an apocryphal story, and a phoenix-from-the-ashes story. Only one of these has any measure of truth to it.

A sad day. I’m at a loss to think of anything new to add to the various obituaries that have been populating Twitter and the press today. We all knew this day was going to happen. All I can say is that if you have Apple kit, enjoy it just a little bit more today than you usually do.
