The Consumer Rights Directive has been a long time coming, and it's very welcome. For more information on what it does, see here: http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAct ... &type=HTML |

I wonder if it covered this kind of wording and configuration: [ ] I do not want to give you an extra £100 (I bet it does, but the news reports I have been reading give them impression that it doesn’t by virtue of not explaining it properly) |

Directives are useless, whats needed are European regulation. Directives can give too much wiggle room and too much is left to interpretation by the member states in its implementation. |

Member states having room to interpret is a good thing. The sooner this directive is brought into UK law the better. |

I dated a girl who worked in the department responsible for checking the member states interpretations. Apparently it's a linguistic nightmare. Most English people can't understand English legal spiel, so imagine what it's like when it's been translated a few times... |

that's why regulations in this case would be better as each regulation has only one mother tongue interpretation. Which means if there's a dispute you go back to the original. |
