Yes, the witch hunt brigade (sorry, newspapers and media) weren't going to be happy unless they had his head on a stake! I'm not defending his actions, but I do believe in "Innocent unless proved guilty". It was only a matter of time before he resigned or was sacked. |

Bloody hilarious. I've just been listening to the radio and there was a series of people - both politics and the armed forces - being interviewed. The interviewer obviously expected them to endorse the resignation but none them did. They all basically said it was storm in a teacup and that he shouldn't have resigned. The interviewer got more and more indignant as each interviewee basically shrugged their shoulders. He was genuinely incredulous by the end. He couldn't believe people weren't absolutely outraged by what had been going on. If there was ever an illustration that this is a 'westminster village' story that the media think is a massive issue the people out in the real world simply do not give a monkey's about, that was it in about three minutes. He was sufficiently naif or ignorent of the realities of his position to call in to question his holding a position of such responsibility. In my opinion. Perhaps a touch of the "tory vice" too, but that isn't a bar to high office. Should be honest about it though. |

I'm sure he's lovely, but he shouldn't be doing the job he's doing. As a loveable local councillor, I'm sure he'd be perfect. Or maybe the golf club captain. |
