Looks like the Welsh government intends to bring in an opt-out system for organ donation.

Thoughts?

In favour - most people dont register on the donor list out of apathy - if someone really does not want thier organs to be use then they will register on the opt out list

I could live with this. Should be the norm, if you're that upset then opt out.

The question then is who should get the organs. If you're not willing to give something you no longer need, then should you recieve? Do we limit organs to use in the UK?

So what happens if a person living in England dies in Wales (eg car crash)?

From the link:

Quote:
only people aged 18 or over who both live and die in Wales would be included under the system

I'm for it

I'm already on the donor list myself but you should be able to request how your organs are used.

I'd rather see mine used in a body farm/medical research than for a transplant

New option on Donor List

Tick box if you want your organs only to be used by someone called Frankenstien to create life

No issue with it but mine have all been pretty well used and abused. They won't have much second hand value. :D

Same here, unless when all the hospitals are privatised they decide to make more money hacking me up rather than saving me. :D

Body farm is rather different to Frankenstein :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_farm

Basically study the decomposition of bodies to better understand how long a body has been stored, the storage conditions etc

Even if my body is no good for donating organs or even medical science it can still be used on a body farm :)
