And here was me thinking our games wouldn't be able to match up to the Chinese effort.

Apparently they had them in Beijing and have been in place previously.

Yeah, as if the Taliban can launch an air strike [/sarcasm] If anything happens, it'll be like this. 7/7 style back pack terrorist go to the games. At either transport hubs, or just before the scurity checks at the venues, they'll set the bombs off. It doesn't matter how much security there is. They can set them off in crowded areas before they got to them. It'll still lead to headlines all over the world.

Well, depends how you define that. Maybe not the Taliban but there are plenty of loonies in the world.A light plane full of kerosene crashing into the opening ceremony would be a hell of a thing. And someone flew a Cesna into Red Square, past the densest air defense network on the planet at the time.

I think we should try and make the opening ceremony more impressive than I expect it to be but that's going too far...
