A few years ago, I was pretty staggered when I found Jay Leno using such things to prototype spares for his car collection - especially those for vehicles which were obsolete.

Now, it seems, that in a few years’ time, medics will be ordering spare bones.

A 3D printer is being used to create "bone-like" material which researchers claim can be used to repair injuries.

The engineers say the substance can be added to damaged natural bone where it acts as a scaffold for new cells to grow.

It ultimately dissolves with "no apparent ill-effects", the team adds.

The researchers say doctors should be able to use the process to custom-order replacement bone tissue in a few years time.

We’ll soon be printing and growing our spare parts to order. I am truly staggered by this kind of technology and how it’s being used.

Cool.

This or they perfect the therapy that triggers cells into renewing themselves like in lobsters. Mind you in order to renew them I guess they have to be there. :D

I caught a few moments of something on TV the other night that seemed to be saying that this technique, with stem cell magic, means we could possibly grow new organs and not just bone.
Which is awesome.

I'm digging around looking for stuff about my grandfather ATM. Believe me that if he was alive today, he would be wanting to know all about this. He probably put in some groundwork with his research when he was alive. He was into blood and tissue typing from what I can find out.

People say iPhones are awesome. Bollocks! This sort of thing is awesome, the iPhone is just a pointless toy by comparison.
