Yep, an intelligent perspective. However, would any other government have behaved that differently? It may be "theatre" but a government needs to be seen to be "doing the right thing" - even if that is the wrong thing to do. Of course, the entire thing is really an exercise in government mind control... |

A good article. I've always found security as UK airports to take a randon attitude to scanning shoes. They tell some people to take them off, but not others. Weird. |

If you try and smile at the guys doing the scanning job they instantly tell you to take your shoes off. So we should all be glum and saddened and we shall get away with everything. |

I remember one guy at the airport was asked to remove his shoes, so he did along with his jeans. Staff were not sure how to react and the airport police turned up to have a word. |
