Same here. So I boiled down my thoughts to my previous statement. The Daily Mail: Trolling the nation since 1896. |

Buy a new car then. Simples. Also, in crowded city streets I'd be amazed if you could manage 30mph anyway. |

If all she does is drive around the proposed 20mph zone, she clearly has the wrong car. She'd be better off with a milk float.. erm, I mean Toyota Prius. |

The rule here is - walk or bus for local journeys, the car for longer distances or parts of the county where public transport would be impractical. She could do herself a favour and buy a bicycle. |

Reducing speed to 20mph will only Increase emissions, surely? I thought the most efficient speed was around. 56mph and above this, the drag on the car requires much more fuel to punch through. Anyways, the only places where 20mph is acceptable are small estates, small side roads and schools IMO. They just need to be strictly enforced. I'd also raise more speed limits to counter the lowered areas. I think it's above 50mph that no pedestrian would survive. The only areas I'd advocate should be lowered are accident blackspots and am happy for this to be enforced. Don't see the logic in making everyone do 40mph in an area where 60-70mph is easily fine (eg dead straight road, excellent visibility etc). Also, that woman is a prat for having a diesel. If she's just using it to get around, she should have a small economical car instead. A big diseasel is great for long motorway journeys but crap around town. |
