Taste the rainbow! Or just eat lots of Smarties One night on a holiday I drank a lot of different colours. Was hungover for at least 2 days. The mother should have been more forceful with regards to her daughter's eating habits |

That's piss poor parenting!! If my son suddenly started demanding chicken nuggets for every meal, I'd give him normal food. If he didn't eat it, he'd go hungry. Hunger would soon make him eat good food again. These parents don't seem to realise they're in control of what their child eats, it's not the child in control. |

And what if your child continues to refuse to eat? |

Children aren't that stupid. Eventually their desire to get what they want will be overcome by their desire not to be hungry. Are you seriously suggesting that parents give in to these ridiculous demands from their children? |

No, I'm suggesting that children are entirely capable of not eating (for example there are child anorexics), and that you may find yourself up for child neglect long before you child capitulates and eats what you provide. |

Doubt it. You're more likely to get done for feeding them chicken nuggets for every single meal. |

No, she won't eat anything else. An important recognition. IMO feeding a kid only nuggets is almost as negligent as not feeding them anything. The mother should have sought help earlier - she could have been seen by an eating disorder team earlier on. Certainly if my kid would want only chicken nuggets, I'd be prepared to let them go hungry for a couple of meals or strike a compromise. |

"On the left you have a lovely chicken and vegetable pie, chips and gravy. On the right, chicken nuggets dipped in Bitrex. You choose." |

It's even more simple than that; don't feed a 2 year old Macdonalds! Very difficult to become addicted to something you've never had... |

+1. If I ever settle down and manage to have kids, I plan for none of them to experience chocolate/sweets/crisps etc until they are much older. |

By "much older", I agree that 2 is far to young. But how about 5 or 6 when they're not always under your control? It still amazes me that many people think it's normal to eat crisps, chocolate or fizzy pop every single day of their lives. Or even every week. When I was a kid, eating that kind of food was a special occasion that meant you were obviously at a party! Cocaine and champagne for kids... Some people like to party all the time, every day of their lives, and then strangely they end up sick or fat. |

My three year old loves McD's. Every time we drive past he asks if he can have a fruit bag. (That's all he ever gets. He's had one normal McD's meal in his life, and that was only because we were stuck for food on the first night of a holiday.) |
