In order to cut costs after seeing profits drop 41 percent year on year, Adobe is shutting its US offices for one week - forcing staff to take holiday leave.

What a shame they have not gone under, shamelessly ripping people off and making Apple and MS look like the Salvation army.

Haven't Adobe just hiked their prices by 10%?

It’s not really news, they do this nearly every year. What is news is that some employees are forced to take unpaid vacations if they have no holiday allowance left.

This is what I don't understand...the software has already been written (little development cost, besides patches) but it is unaffordable for most people. Even if they dropped the prices by half Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite would still be really expensive, but they may well attract a new raft of customers and keep the money rolling in. Most of their software is available to download, so they don't even have to worry too much about manufacturing the "boxed" versions.
