I don’t think we can expect anything more from this deeply out of touch administration. Every day, I grow even more convinced that they are seeking to punish the electorate for allowing the “other lot” in in 1997. Anyway:
Interesting that things can only be “verified” if it’s another journalist who also saw the event. No other witnesses to this taking place? |

Thanks for that Oli, interesting read. If the press were actually corralled, why aren't they kicking up a fuss? If they were staunch goverment sympathisers and yes men they wouldn't need to be locked up, so I would expect a number of them to make their feelings public; or are they afraid of losing what pitiful access to the PM they currently enjoy? As much as I dislike Tony Blair, I do remember him being button-holed by members of the public, on these press walk-arounds, and him having the wherewithal to argue his point. Have we now lost this ability in our politicians? David Cameron truly is a sh!t Prime Minister. What a glorious state we are in - politicians with no nous, and journalists with no balls. |

Having just watched Borgen this is reminding me a lot of the issues raised in the program. ![]() |

If anything, Blair was at least open to hearing from people. Politicians have to be buttonholed by the public. We are their paymasters, after all. I remember an edition of QuestionTime when they had the three political leaders being asked questions from the studio audience. The questions were not pre screened, and one was about the time it took to see a GP. This was excellent TV, as Blair had not seen that coming, and he was visibly taken aback. Politicians need to be exposed to random stuff and not live in a controlled bubble all the time. |

Would the person who refused to "stand aside" be a former NHS union rep..... |

What, so she doesn't have a right to protest then? Or is it fine, as long as she protests in a way that nobody actually notices? Obviously, because she's not in favour she shouldn't be 'involved in the process' , even if that process is, you know, democracy. |

In case you wondered why Lansley is trying to pimp out the NHS, here's a report from 2010 to explain all. Get sharing... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/6989408/Andrew-Lansley-bankrolled-by-private-healthcare-provider.html
Thanks to Dennis Skinner for FBing that. |

She has a right to protest, I was mentioning it as its being portrayed as an OAP stands up for the NHS, just pointing out that all is not what it seems. Selective reporting is just as bad to "democracy". Theres always a differing side to what is happening and its nice to know both before making (what everyone does anyway) a biased opinion on it. Almost everyone agrees the NHS needs reforming but there are people that seem to want to say no to everything. There is no constructive dialogue anymore as political opinions will always get in the way. |
