You can buy one today - if you are lucky. The sites selling them have crashed! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17192823Apparently, there will be a flavour of RISC OS for it soon.

I'm holding out for when it comes with a case, then I'll be all over the Model B like flies on poop The network streaming/xbmc support is great and it's stupidly low power (<5v (don't know the ampere)) yet does 1080p airplay video

Make your own case. It’s a fantastic little thing. I’m keen on getting myself one as well. No luck today.

I've never heard of this project before, but looks like a fantastic way to get involved in programming, especially for kids. I'm assuming it has no built-in storage, so do you load an OS and files onto an SD Card or USB HDD, yes?

From what I've seen it has an embedded Linux variant, so it's not a dumb box when you plug it in. It comes with some software to let you get on and learn programming and stuff, too. It's no use to me. I can't code for toffee, never have been able to either. But for kids, well, let's see what they can come up with!

I’m not sure if it has embedded Linux or whether you have to create a bootable drive on an HD card. Anyway, Heather, here is a chance for you to put your miniature tin & brass bending skills to good use. Start making cases! The initial investment on a unit for fitting and measuring could easily be recouped on your first sale! If you need an Acorn RISC PC or Archimedes to measure for your cases, let me know!

How they do it I don't know, but my knowledge comes from this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17190334Cases. Hmm. Steam Punk cases for Raspberry Pi. Aren't they going to ship with cases anyway?

There's no cases for them as they're project boards. Sign me up for a Steampunk case for one. Can you do me a Steampunk flash drive as well?

I feel I should say right now I have no intention of producing cases of any description for Raspberry Pi. Just a brief think about the costs of materials would make them prohibitively expensive to produce, completely out of proportion to the cost of the electronics to go in them. Sorry to disappoint.

You'll be able to put a PC just about anywhere now, and I imagine the ideas created will be far beyond the original scope.

I don't think your getting the hang of capitalism HK. You now have a market to gouge... I mean charge a reasonable rate above cost price.
