The 2003 legislation was brought in 'to help counter the threat of terrorism'. To date it has never been used in any case that could reasonably be described as involving terrorism of any sort.

Every time someone is dragged across to the states and thrown in jail on some ludicrous premise due to this act, one of the MPs that signed it should have to go and sit in the cells with them.

It certainly does need changing as is it unfair in general. Though IMO McKinnon should still be extradited as he's admitted hacking computers that were in the US. To me his motives are irrelevant.

Let's be honest here, the fact the US authorities got that solider who went postal and killed 16 people on the first available plane out of Afghanistan illustrates very nicely what their attitude to justice in other countries is. They don't even trust the courts in countries that have governments they put in power, let alone anyone who might have some level of free choice.
