I read about this earlier today. I thnk you've got to understand Axl's point of view … pretty much all the people he was around when he made and lost his fortune now think of him as a crazy old cuckoo, so given those circumstances, you can understand him not wanting to spend any time around them. He was and still is  , I find it hard to believe he even wrote that statement himself tbh
