I disagree, the store should be up-front about the condition of the product & terms of sale, which includes any features that may be missing as a result of buying second-hand.

But it's ridiculously complicated these days, it goes way beyond MP and even the stores themselves have been sent new games that didn't have the codes in them etc. The stores will just sell the online codes themselves or the credit to enable buying them, either way it's cash flow.
