Actually buggery rates in 'Western' European jails are quite low, that's mostly a phenomenon in the USA. |

What is interesting in this case is that there isn’t a jury. This was explained on BBC News when the trial started. There are judges (who are qualified) and lay judges (who aren’t) making up the judicial bench. There were problems getting judges for the case as Norway, whilst geographically large, has a small population, and it was difficult getting lay judges who didn’t have any kind of contact with a victim. |

yeah. apparently he gave a press interview shortly after the actual attacks and said something along the lines of "whoever did this, death's too good for them". Oops. Having said that, the point has to stand. How one earth is it possible to be able to find someone who could be considered objective about this? It was the biggest news story on planet earth at the time. You can't hope to find anyone who doesn't know if he did it or not (not that it matters, since he admitted he did it), you just have to find people you trust to make the smartest decision about what to do with him. |
