So? There are some public functions where private companies should stay well out of it. What I really despise about these scheme is that the method for saving money is usually just to cut salaries and benefits. "Oh, Lincolnshire paid you £8 an hour? How lovely, here's £6.10 per hour for the same job you did before. Now sit down and shut up." |

I would think that the staff who transfered have their terms and conditions protected - so no saving. It's only the new staff who will be wholely G4 who will suffer poorer conditions, and probably have the G4 logo only. |

That would be illegal. Transfer of undertakings (TUPE) The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) protects employees' terms and conditions of employment when a business is transferred from one owner to another. Employees of the previous owner when the business changes hands automatically become employees of the new employer on the same terms and conditions. It's as if their employment contracts had originally been made with the new employer. Their continuity of service and any other rights are all preserved. Both old and new employers are required to inform and consult employees affected directly or indirectly by the transfer. |

Sure, for a direct transfer. Of course there's absolutely nothing to stop them giving existing employees notice and G4S bringing in/hiring their own staff. It happens all the time in the public sector where functions are outsourced to private companies. |
