http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/new-product/ ... ily%20newsGood offer, but 8 seems utterly pointless to me, and that tablet interface on a 'proper computer' is just nonsense...

£25 Shows how desperate they are to get Win7 users to upgrade. They could give it to me for free and I still wouldn't use it

if they sold it at "full retail" price people would complain and say they should sell it at a reduced price. They sell it at a reduced price and people still complain Me personally, I quite like it and from what the majority of people bitching about it seem be so called "power users" and those who refuse to accept anything different and if they had their way we would still be on 95.

You can disable the metro ui, apparently, which is the only way I'd be using Win8.

I rememebr people saying that about Win 7 I got 7 at the initial discounted price and may well get 8 at this £25 price. I mayu not use it immediatly but at some stage will need it as new s/w comes out that wants 8 and I might as well buy it for the price of a round in London than wait and then have to pay full retail for it Also I am looking to get a new PC and most of the builders will knock off £50 ish if you have no OS - so this way I will save £25

or just not use the metro ui front end and go to the desktop. its only a click away I find it amusing that it shows how unready people are to accept any change. The introduction of the ribbon interface into Office is a prime example. Oh how did the "power users" or pretend power users bitch and moan. Yet (purely anecdotally) when Office was upgraded from 2003 to 2010 in my company nearly everyone managed quite easily to adapt very quickly.

I should accept Metro because MS deems it to be way forward? It's hideous. Like some kind of Austin Powers front end.

I struggled and still struggle with the ribbon interface but that's probably because I haven't invested much time in looking for everything. That's down to diminishing use of MS Office though.

Hell, if I bought a new PC/laptop and it came with Windows 8, there quite a reasonable chance I'd downgrade to Windows 7

Metro is horrible on Desktop PCs, it looks especially horrific on 20"+ screens.

I have Metro on a 42" screen. I operate it from as far away as possible, about 2.5m.
I've been using it for months and still don't like it, but then I didn't like XP when it first came out.
