http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19300051 A quick Google suggests not one of them has any experience of a low-paid job, which I'm assuming is what they're getting at going by their own work history. Even Cameron must facepalm at cnuts like that, if only for the PR headache. I mean the 'Asian work ethic'? They know what that entails, no?

I think there's a small but vocal part of the tory party that would be quite happy if the working conditions in the UK were lowered to that of say China (to be fair, China has improved markedly in the last decade) on the grounds of making us 'competitive' with them if it would raise share value and profits for UK based companies, even if the rest of society went to hell in a handcart. In essence, they're the militant wing of the CBI. I'm pretty sure the majority of the tory party has a more.. enlightened view on things to some degree. And indeed they must look at this lot and think 'Jesus....'. They're the mad uncle in every family who gets a bit drunk at weddings and drops his trousers. Having said all that, if the current tory party actually was at all politically savvy (it really isn't - it's only in government by default) it would jettison the lot of them at the next opportunity. |

He's wrong. The lazy ones make no attempt to get a job and intend to spend their lives on benifits. The ones who work aren't lazy. |

I am not sure they really do either. I come from a town with nearly 30% unemployement, where 1 in 4 families relies on red cross/ food bank handouts to eat because there is absolutly no work going. Any position that become available is showered in CVs. People beg for work, even for summer jobs that normally would go to students. I don't believe anyone is idle by choice, but long term unemployment destroys people's confidence in their abilities and makes it harder to get out of bed everyday if you have nothing to look forward too. |

They exist, unfortunately, maybe not in massive numbers but they do exist. I use to live next to a family that thought that they deserved everything, it was their right not to work and claim everything going. Every day they would be in the garden getting drunk and smoking illegal herbage. The example they were giving to their kids made me despair for the next generation. |

Kind of like the Philpotts in Derby. Just had more and more children to get benifits. Bragged about how much money they had. Went to far by (allegdedly) murdering their children in a bodged attempt to get an even larger house from the council. |

Well hats off to them. I've got a freakin' degree and I had to be suicidal before the government would let me have any money. I've never successfully claimed unemployment benefit, even when I was, y'know, unemployed. |

+1 I've never claimed Jobseeker's Allowance, but the best job I could manage after graduating was a part-time shop job which actually paid slightly less than JSA, however I didn't claim JSA as I would rather work for the money. I did, however, claim Council Tax benefit due to my paltry income. That was the worst mistake I ever made, I was constantly hounded by the council for increasing amounts of evidence as to my income and they kept cancelling and re-initiating my claim which meant I kept getting threatening letters for non-payment of council tax and I had to somehow find the money to pay the council tax for the small periods between the claims being cancelled and re-initiated because the council refused to back-date the new claims to the date the old ones were ended (unilaterally by them). The whole sorry process made me that miserable and depressed that I ended up crying in my GP's office, seeking medical help for the enormous amount of anxiety (and lack of sleep) the local authority was causing. |
