I'll FB you later as well (8-p) Sorry for extreme sarcasm, but I've spent my afternoon thus far figuring out the structure of Orable databases. Fun times.

It was on the radio this afternoon.
Something about MS and Nokia releasing new models tomorrow, to get the jump on the iPhone 5 launch next week.

Wow. I can imagine there are a lot of people who would think 'Hey, I was going to buy the iPhone 5 that's coming out next week, but instead I'm going to to buy this Nokia Windows 8 phone and hope when I use it in the street people won't point and laugh'.

Why? By all accounts its A very good phone, OK maybe not as "cool" S the iPhone but very distinctive plus you don't have to worry about Apples lawyers trying to bring the banhammer into play.

There are no accounts as to whether windows 8 is a good phone OS yet. At least, none that aren't 'help'ed by Microsoft. Why should the man in the street give a damn about that?

I've just been offered a price plan for the 5, so it must be imminent!

The problem have is that people are used to either iOS or Android and they like them. Getting people to buy a Windows phone is a big deal. Sure you can try phones in shops, but you never really get to know the thing if you're trying it for the first time. Then there's the app cost. I think (but I'm not sure) you can moved your iOS/Android apps from one phoen to another. If you change OS, you have to buy them all over again, and that's assuming they're available. This really is an uphill struggle for both Nokia and MS. IMO Nokia would have done better selling high spec Android phones. I might have bought one myself (when I renew next year) if they'd done that.

WP7 was very good, I much preferred it to iOS. It still lags a little behind Android in some areas, but the enhancements I've seen for 8 look like they will move the platform along nicely.
