The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are hugely saddened over the "grotesque and unjustifiable invasion of privacy" by a magazine which published topless photos of Kate, a royal spokesman says.

French publication Closer printed the pictures of the duchess, taken during their holiday at the French chateau of the Queen's nephew, Lord Linley.

Closer is not run by the same company as the British title; it is administered by Italian business Mondadori, owned by former president Silvio Berlusconi's holding company Fininvest.

Oh, dear. Silvio’s involved.

In which case, she's probably lucky it was just her privacy that was invaded..

Someone in a fairly secluded private estate being photographed partially naked, from outside?
I care not one iota about the royal family, but isn't this a crime?

We had a creepy guy living a few doors away who stood in his bedroom taking photos of the girl next door, sunbathing in her back garden. I can't remember the exact nature of the charges, but he was put on the sex offenders register.

[edited] I originally said young girl, but that suggests she was a minor; she was nineteen or twenty

You'd assume so wouldn't you? I know France has much more strict 'protection of privacy' laws than we do as well. I guess it depends if they want to press charges or not.

Half of the world is in disgust that these photos were taken and half the world is salivating over a keyboard trying to get a look. To both I say this; It's just a pair of tits.

That's no way to refer to the future king and queen.

And, really, she needs to eat more food, like that depicted above. That woman is dreadfully skinny.

But the fines are usually small. Even with a fine the mag will be quids in.

She's a fine looking woman in great shape.
Personally I couldn't care less about whether she's taken her top off while outdoors or not.
Hugely 'meh' story.

She seems to be very elegant and she's doing pretty well considering what she's been dropped into. However she's one of those women I describe as 'fashion model beautiful'. Stunning but somehow... lacking in something you can't define.
