Police investigating alleged sexual abuse of girls by the late Jimmy Savile are pursuing 120 separate lines of inquiry, a press conference was told.

Scotland Yard detectives said there could be 20 to 25 victims in total.

Commander of specialist crime investigations Peter Spindler said police had recorded eight allegations against Sir Jimmy, including two rapes.

They still call him “Sir Jimmy” - I would have expected a more formal naming until this matter was cleared up one way or another.

Which means he'll never be guilty.

Indeed. Assuming the allegations are accurate, he got away with it, lived a good life and everyone loved him.

I have an idea for a 'shop of Savile climbing over a giant white wall and in text beneath it:

Oi! Savile! Leave them kids alone!

Apparently his family are dismantling his grave stone tomorrow.
Sad that has to be done, but I can understand why during the investigations.

I've noticed a few people in the news about to call him sir jimmy savile then stumbling and calling him just savile.

this as only just started

Q1 how after 40 years was this not detected (answers on a post card)
Q2 who covered it up for so long (management hold your heads in shame)
Q3 how high did the orders for this cover up come from and be upheld at lower levels
Q4 why did management (high and low) allow this
Q5 is there more to uncover (i bet)

this has just about finished the BBC as it stands ...

I doubt that it will be the end of the BBC. The press would love to see the end of the BBC as they dominate news services. I barely use any other news service as much as the BBC.

After seeing Newsnight and HIGNFY that there were rumours but nothing that would stand up in court. I doubt that there was a coverup.
