The Nobel Peace Prize has been a bit of a joke for a while. The other ones do still have some value though. |

Didn't we do well. Keeping the peace in Europe for 60 years, apart from Yugoslavia, and beating up protesters in Greece.

Yes the whole prize has been a joke for a few years. I still expect Blair to get nominated for his work in the Middle East. |

Then you have the Basques problems with the Spanish, and French to a lesser extent: Irelands dispute over six counties (still in their constitution); France over the Channel Islands; Spain over Gibraltar (wonderful irony of their dependencies in North Africa); Greece and Cyprus over the northern Turkish controlled sectors of Cyrus; Greece over Macedonia name; Various disputes in former Yugoslavia; Ethnic rumblings in the Baltic states; France and Germany over the border territory that switched hands during the wars. Sweden and Finland disputes over islands in the Baltic; UK and Norway over north sea oil reserves. Most are minor and inconsequential, but we are not completely peaceful. |
