I kind of doubt the shrapnel included half a dozen wood screws and some paper clips :lol:

As to the scanner thing, I think unless it's a seriously big lump of metal like a replacement hip you're OK. I've got a metal plate (roughly the size of a teaspoon apparently) in my arm and I've never set off a scanner once.

I walked through a scanner in France in the late 90s wearing a reconstructed bullet necklace and it didn't go off :oops:
