An interesting choice, for sure.

A10 APUs benefit hugely from very fast ram, so I'd like to see the exact specs. It's hard to image they'll solely use the integrated GPU - but doesn't AMD's Trinity support hybrid crossfire to boost a discreet GPU? That will certainly be a first for a console.

I think it's a shame they've given up on the Cell. I'd like to have seen where they could've taken it, and yes, I know the developers whine about coding for it is 'really hard n stuff'.

It was also crazy hot though, wasn't it? It used 98w idle, IIRC.

Yeah, but then lots of processors were. Remember the egg frying Pentiums? Then things evolve and become more refined.
Still, if there's an available processor with the oomph you need at the right price, why not use it?

The original link there. They shouldn't change the pad much except to make the triggers usable... More than two USB ports would be a good idea

Backwards compatibility will rear it's head; I'm guessing the Cell could make that a bollocks though :|

I can't imagine it'll have an SSD that large, can you? Not without paying far more :?

Well the general opinion was they bought Gakai to deal with the backward compatibility thing - you'll be able to stream older games, with presumably some way of verifyng you've actually paid for them - they can do that pretty easily with digital downloads and could bundle it with PS+ i.e. everyone who buys PS+ for the PS4 gets free streaming of all the PS3 games that have already been given away as part of PS+ at some point.

As to the SSD, the better rumour I heard was a hybrid system - something like 16/32GB of SSD to use as very fast virtual storage, with a larger slower HDD to actually store all the non-transitory data on. I also heard a rumour it was going to have 16GB of RAM, which I think is a little bit fantasy island tbh, although I wouldn't be surprised if it had 8GB of really fast memory but no dedicated video RAM.

I'd never pay them to play PS3 games, that's for sure. Sony's running on goodwill fumes as it is.

I seriously doubt my net connection could hack it anyway
