Who alerted the press? While there are allegations he should be entitled to anonymity until charged at the least. I am now wondering how many celebrities will be outed as a consequence of past dalliances as possible rapists/paedophiles/sheep shaggers.

The was another name being bandied around by some on Twitter last week. News sources said that a "man in his eighties" was questioned by police. I'm not mentioning the name here as it could be libellous/defamatory without some kind of solid source to back it up.

However, the name being mentioned in the rumours will cause much distress to anyone who grew up in the 1970s.

Yes but since Stuart Hall is in that same age range maybe he is the one. Though I think that there was a lot of consensual sex then, and kiss and tells were not quite the big news that they became later on. Max Clifford said there were loads of celebrities who were living in fear.

Yes which is just as bad as many of the abuses pre Levenson. He should have been afforded anonymity until he was charged at least. He may be guilty but how on earth can he get a fair trial if the press start to smear him.

Just seen that. I went through Wikipedia to see how many other ex-Radio One DJs are in their sixties, just so I could be prepared. :-(

There will be quite a few. Radio One was founded in the late sixties. So there will be loads who shagged groupies. Most I guess will be consensual but you can never underestimate the willingness to look at things very differently many years later.
