"Manchester City are ready to make Chelsea defender John Terry the highest paid player in the Premier League by offering the England captain weekly wages of £300,000."

15 and a half million pounds a year. Its getting stupid.

i gave up watching and supporting most sport including football as its now just another 'big business' which takes the average person for all they can wring out of them …

I did some sums using the Fantasy League pricing system and the points each player returned. Turns out that Mark Schwartzer was by far and away the best value player in the Premiership last season.

Well it wont do us any help with some players on massive sums of money and others, like ireland, on 60k a week.

I like the fact that £60k / week doesn't appear to come under the category of "a lot of money"

Im talking about the wage of the best player for us being a 5th of that of what john terry would get.

BTW with the way wages are in the premier league I wouldn't say 60k a week is alot of money. People should stop moaning about the astronomical wages they get.

What a pleasant person

Happy to confirm that I wouldn't pay any footballer £1k per week as they do not deserve it. :D

Well you took what I said out of context, that equates to whats wrong with this country's jouranlism.

Well I'm happy to confirm that economics has decided that they are worth what they are paid.

I was a Bolton Wanderers fan from childhood and have many very happy (and not so happy) memories. However, IMO 60k/week is an obscene amount for any human; it's why I've stopped watching football.

As setanta (sp ) has gone bust and the majority of people in the current financial crisis won't be able to afford the crazy prices to go and see a premier league game, it will be interesting to see how many clubs go under or get into financial difficulty because of the amounts they pay their players.

To put it politely its obscene what they are paid.
