Good job it was not a library book. |

"Wouldn’t it have been better to take the camera with me, get the shot, take the film pack off and then (for weight restrictions) throw the camera away?" I can understand his position, but I'm going to say 'no'. Can we please try and stop leaving litter everywhere we go? Mark |

In the grand scheme of things, a discarded camera on the Moon is nothing compared to the rest of the clutter they left up there. ![]() |

However, in that case, it was an experiment rather than simply littering. The other 11 Hasselblad bodies left up there are another story... |

I hope they get it back. Maybe some aliens took some prank photos with it. |

Not to mention a certain golf ball or two that's floating around there somewhere.
At least this way it's there for a reason. Mark |

The important point is, of course, not the camera. It's that in the intervening 40 years we've not managed to leave this dustball in any significant way whatsoever. |

Just like I never forgot about the part of the moon lander that was left behind. And I was also mindful of all the thousands of bits of debris that's in orbit about the Earth. It seems the human race just can't help but leave a trail of rubbish behind it. Mark |

If we didn't do that, we'd never be able to find out about our past. ![]() |

Pages of discussion later, someone with a little bit of knowledge will say "it's a milk bottle top". Mark |

Holy crap that's a scary thought! ![]() [/quote] Given his success with the ladies, I’d say that this is unlikely. You can rest easy. An interesting snippet of info for you - in the 100 years after your death, no one will know who you are. Not even your descendants. There may be a small paper trail - birth, marriage, death, census, but your work, your day to day life, will all be gone. More so now given that we store and record so much of our lives electronically. All those 265 photo projects. Gone. All those posts on Facebook and Twitter, which could be a minefield of information. Gone. Your emails. Gone. YouTube videos. Gone. Self-hosted blogs. Gone. A bit of metal on the moon will outlive you, and will give some kind of indication about life in the 1960s. |
