Yes but the takings by some of the big hits make a substantial proportion of the total sales.

That might happen again. There was also comments on the BBC that many films this year featured older actors, as older baby boomers watched more movies and fewer youngsters watched them. So the long term trend could still turn down as the baby boomers die off.
