Another stupid [LIFTED] site that won't let you see the full site on a mobile. I'm getting really [LIFTED] fed up with this. |

Yeah, iPhone. It really grinds my gears. My phone can view normal sites perfectly, so stop sending me to the mobile version. And if you do, make sure it's the same page I wanted to see. |

Oh that really grinds my gears too! I either get directed immediately to the mobile site (when I don't want to) and when I try to go to the desktop version, it takes me the home page. Really poorly designed sites immediately pick up the mobile browser so although you're on the desktop site, it'll direct you to the mobile site the moment you click on anything. This is why I now have atomic browser on the iPhone. Allows your browser identity to be changed on the fly. |

I have chrome, but still have safari as my default browser as I prefer the way it works. Annoyingly, tapatalk is set to open in app, but always takes me to safari. Seemed to happen in the last update. |

The only way to tackle the problem is to attack spending, not produce more money... ![]() |

The problem is that 40% of the US budget is defence and that is off limits to the Republicans, so the only things that are going to be discussed are welfare cuts. Which will just make the recession ever greater. |

That was true about 40 years ago I suppose. |

The real problem seems to be Medicare, but that could be solved in part by having a single payer system and challenging the incentives for false billing that the hospital industry there is known for. |

It's true they would save a lot of money if they switched to a proper NHS style system with state backed health insurance (which is why I am always so dismissive when you guys scream hysterically about us going to an American style system - which is something that even the most savage Tories know would be foolishness). But there are simply not enough votes for that, so it's a pipe dream. The fundamental issue is that revenues and expenditure are out of line and not converging. Healthcare and social security costs are growing and now exceed 50% of the federal budget. Their tax system is full of holes. And their interest payments are growing too. All of this could be fixed, but it takes reform of the tax code, increases in some taxes, and still they must reform those entitlements to some extent. The real take home lesson here is that they won't do it. The Democrats will refuse to compromise on entitlements, and the Republicans will refuse to budge on taxes, and the opportunity to fix things by being smart and doing what democracy is for (respectful compromise) will pass. This is why I object to mindless ideologues who cannot accept that their own solutions are partial. You know who those guys are, the ones who will only accept death or victory, and insist on referring to everyone who disagrees with them as evil, mad or "Gideon". |
