A 20-inch tablet? That'll be handy to carry around then. |

Well, that advert with the girl "painting" shows me all that is wrong with tablets the size for A3 sheets of paper. It's just too big. |

And again I ask, what sources of 4K imagery is presently available for exhibition at those resolutions for the average consumer? Mark |

4k isn't anything you'd want to stream or shunt about wirelessly. |

4K is a pretty low resolution for still photos, so if you're manipulating them it'll be a lot easier to see what you're doing properly. It also gives you more room to run more apps on the screen at the same time. On a tablet this size, that's a far more likely prospect than on a phone. Remember this is Windows. It would make less sense on a more limited iOS device. |

Couple of thoughts (1.5 litres of beer in, I should add) about that - I don't buy this as being marketed as a device for stills editing. Few of reasons for this - screen size, application availability, interface. 4k is used to refer to the moving image rather than the static. 4k movie files are big. You wouldn't believe how big. You might think that 720p movie file you've downloaded is big, but that's peanuts to 4k. The multiple app windows open at once thing does make sense, if you're using a desktop-style OS, otherwise it doesn't - the apps for mobile devices are usually programmed to entirely take over the screen real estate. It's absolutely a solution to a problem we've not come across yet. If we get the superfast high bandwidth wi-fi, then that might become less of a problem, but really? 4K? On a tablet? Pointless. |

In what way is iOS a more limited OS compared to Windows? Because in terms of image manipulation, I have apps on my iPad very comparable to anything that's available on either the Mac OS or Desktop Windows, that put the offerings of both those platforms to shame when you factor in the cost of the software for the desktop market. 4k on portable devices is pointless. |

I have to agree. Unless you hold it an inch from your face, you're not going to see pixels on a normal device. eg My laptop is 16" and a 1080 display. Bluray's look soooooo crisp on it (eg BBC's Frozen Planet). I can't believe I'd be able to notice anything higher than that when it's a couple of feet away on my desk. |
