I don't think there's anything surprising there. The cuckoo is evidence enough that many traits must be formed from "genetic memory", since they have no parents to learn from.

I suspect that someone just wanted to breed cute little rodent pets :lol:

A part from the revelation that genetics is crucial to many more things that we realise, it is the way that they worked out what DBA regions did what, and dominance as well. All very clever.
