So many of the national papers are surviving on the largess of the owners. Make the paper financially viable, more likely they will sell it off and watch it go under if they don't get their way.

Yes though in the age of the internet the press are antiquated in comparison. Their real strengths lie in the fact that they can do stories in far greater depth than the average TV news program.
