I wonder will the next generation of politicians blame games - they've pretty much given up on films apart from this sort of plonker.

"I don't know, kids today with their televisions and transistor radios and their rock and roll..."

Why do half the Republican party remind me of Monty Burns? Oh, yeah, it's because half of them ARE Monty Burns.

Ralph Nader stood a number of times as an independent candidate for US president. He made his name in consumer protection law hence I think that is his reasoning this time.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Nader is an NRA member. The NRA are, essentially, a front for the American arms manufacturers.
An industry that right now is trying to do all it can to point the finger of blame anywhere else.
So expect to see any number of stories designed to distract the media from arms industry's role in a violent society.

As far as I know he's in favour of gun control - in a kind of American way (no to armour piercing bullets, yes to widespread handgun ownership, that sort of thing). It's not one of the issues for which he is famous.

Ralph Nader is best known for running in the 2000 presidential race. As a Green. He took a lot of votes away from Al Gore and is still widely hated by the left, because if he hadn't run it's likely G W Bush would not have won the election.

You could both have worked that out with less than a minute of Google action.

Not everybody fits the tiny little compartments into which you divide all of political thought.

His views on gun control

Quote:
Supports trigger locks, licensing, & banning some guns

Some people are killed or injured with guns and some law-abiding people want to use guns for self-defense. How do you blend the two?
Make sure the weapons are designed safely with trigger locks.
Strong law enforcement so that they’re not falling into the hands of criminals.
Look at a weapon the way you look at a car. You’ve got to know how to handle it. You should be licensed.
There are certain weapons that should be banned.
If you do all that, both interests will be protected.
