http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21306006 Dumb name to start with, but this is exactly what I thought it would lead to He added: "One of the things we need to go away and think about is what this incident tells us about how we defend our faith in the future. "We've been passive for too long in the face of mockery of our faith and discrimination against us as Catholics." People giving it the full Mary Whitehouse over crisps. I can never help thinking, 'Remind me how powerful and forgiving your god is again' ![]() |

I suspect "forgiving" doesn't just mean you can carry on doing wrong. You still get punished. As it stands, it was a stupid fecking name and wouldn't surprise me if it were a publicity stunt. |

Thankfully, they can't burn people at stakes any more. Sadly, they do want to stifle creativity in a secular country. Religion is something that seems to think it has special privileges and somehow we are expected to tip toe reverently around it despite its falling popularity. |

That was what I thought when I read the headline, but for a "non-alcoholic version of a Bloody Mary cocktail" it's really the obvious name. After all, Bloody Mary refers to the same religious side-kick in an even less polite way. Presumably they'll be banned now too? |

Bloody Mary was Mary Queen of Scots, quite different to the Mary that gave birth to Jesus! I prefer the Aussie name for a Bloody Mary sans alcohol - A Bloody Shame. |

Oh dear... More "religious" ridiculousness. |

I used to drink Virgin Marys when I was at college. That was over 25 years ago, why has it taken them so long to complain? |
