I think that this is a good result. Artificial sweetners are not natural and yes they are artificial. Many try to avoid all artificial additives. This makes it easier.

its good to read that someone in the retail industry is, in some products, avoiding aspartame. which is something we have done for several years in this house …

Aspartame is truly nasty. Evil even. I'd ban in entirely, if I was King.

I used to use it but have gone natural. I now use unrefined sugar because the girlfriend likes it. Plus I can get it locally so few food miles.

Not so fast...

I need to do a survey first. Do they sell an Asda "lite" fizzy drink? If so, what's the sweetener? It would be kind of ironic if it was something toxic...

Might be a while. Asda is so much more expensive and less convenient than my local supermarket I only go there out of desperation.

Perhaps their website holds the answer...

*clicks*

Hmm... Sucralose and Acesulfame K. Nutritious and Delicious

Many people say Sucralose (Splenda - made from Sugar and Chlorine) is the nastiest additive in the history of mankind.

Oh well. I suppose we should be content with a small victory over aspartame.

On the plus side, it doesn't list any of the more carcinogenic caramels as colourings... but I'm always concerned by the phrase "Natural Flavourings". Deadly Nightshade is "Natural" but I wouldn't want it in my cola.

I think I'll stick to water...

Just noticed this on the website:
