Icelandic meat pie turns out to contain no meat at all.

(thats the country Iceland, not the frozen food purveyor by the way).

Well, given the price of beef (and in fact pretty much everything) in Iceland it's hardly surprising someone decided to swap in something cheaper.
Sneaky vegetarians. :D

Meat pie with no meat?!

Is there a more heinous crime?

At most it is fraud. You are paying for a beef pie and not getting what you are paying for. At the least it might be a mistake, even so it should not be happening. All of this is showing that we are far better off making our own pies. That is something I might try one day.

Only if it had puff pastry when it should have been shortcrust.

The only reason my pies have shortcrust pastry is because it's so trivial to make. I very much prefer flaky. I like my pies to explode when I stick a fork in.

Don't get distracted by the window dressing - classic amateur mistake! ;)
