Only problem is that we are the targets and killer robots are relentless. We have Terminator to thank for that knowledge.

As far as I see it, it’s a natural progression of weapons. I saw a military psychologist explain it once on TV. The purpose of the weapon is to distance the attacker from his victim. So instead of strangling someone with your bare hands, you can stab then with a knife. Or, if you prefer, mount that knife on a pole and stab them from a longer distance away. A bow and arrow can place you at an even further distance from the act of maiming or killing, and obviously a gun lengthens that distance more.
A machine, which could be programmed or controlled from somewhere on the other side of the planet, clearly takes that distance and maximises it. You can now kill without even knowing that there was someone there to kill.

Milton Jones had a tweet about inaccurate drone strikes something like, 'An Islamic Millicent was killed today...'
