Police are investigating the death of a man who had reportedly been playing russian roulette.

Emergency services were called to a house in Hogg Avenue in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, on Saturday following a "firearms" incident.

Alan McWilliams, 41, was found seriously injured and taken to hospital in Glasgow for treatment but died on Sunday.

A neighbour told the Scottish Sun newspaper McWilliams had been "playing russian roulette with a pal and the gun went off".

Strathclyde police said they were treating the death as unexplained.

A spokesman said: "Detectives are carrying out extensive inquiries following the death of a man in Johnstone at the weekend.Around 8.30pm on Saturday 2 March 2013, officers were called to a report of a man with a firearm within a house in Hogg Avenue, Johnstone.

"Emergency services attended and the 41-year-old man was taken to the Southern General hospital. Unfortunately, the man died in hospital on Sunday.

"A postmortem examination will be carried out later today to establish the exact circumstances of the death and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

Surely it's only Darwinian if they're dead before they've passed on their genetic material?

It makes no mention of offspring, and I find it easy to believe that a 41 year old dumb enough to play Russian Roulette was unsuccessful at finding a suitable partner.

If she was as dumb as him then no. Though she could be a Darwin contender at some point.
