Quote:
A man who spent 22 months in solitary confinement without trial has been awarded a $15.5m (£10.3m) settlement.
Stephen Slevin was left alone in his cell for months at a time, developing severe mental and physical health problems.
He had been arrested in New Mexico in 2005 for driving without insurance and whilst intoxicated.
As he had depression at the time, and was considered a suicide risk, he was placed in a padded cell upon arrival.
After a few days, he was moved to solitary confinement, where he remained without trial for 22 months.

Not enough considering the mental problems that he will suffer for the rest of his life as result of this.

Without wishing to trivialise it, I think I'd rather do two years in solitary than two months on Big Brother.

I think that you would miss the social aspect even if the other people are morons. I think it was the complete lack of contact that has screwed his brain.
