That's idiotic. A Google equivalent to iOS's newstand is not in any way or sense a replacement for Google Reader.

Google reader was a website aggregator, not a curated digital magazine front end. Other than some vague connection to the word 'news', they have absolutely nothing in common. And launching 'Google Newstand' will not stop people fleeing to the likes of Feedly (500,000 new registrations since the Google reader announcement).

Also, Google already sells magazines through the Play store anyway. It's just had less takeup from publishers than on iOS. This whole story makes no sense whatsoever. Only a journalist who has literally no clue of what they're talking about would write it.

Yeh, it sounds like 'Tech Radar don't really know what they are talking about.

How does a monthly subscription to PC Pro get me all of the daily news articles, as they are released? Idiots.

As to the news stand itself, it is a fairly obvious addition. Surprised it took this long.

How many people have actually signed up to a digital only magazine? I still have my magazine subscriptions.

I swapped pretty much all my 'paper' subs for digital ones. Much more convenient and usually cheaper.

I switched. Much easier to keep back issues, and it's both cheaper and more convenient. It's also eliminated the problem of issues going missing in the post.

I subscribe via Google Play, all I need now is for Private Eye to appear on there and I'm set.
