What a load of cynical bullsh1t. I'm personally p1ssed off with going to other sites and seeing what is effectively a 'you forgot to checkout with this!' ad for the likes of Play. What happens if you're looking at something for a present only to have it display in front of that person later? Or starts an argument?

Firefox already lets you block 3rd party cookies if you want. I'd have though quite a significant amount of users would have taken advantage of that already.

in Firefox i use the cookie monster extension which handles the cookie permissions site by site
and over rides the default cookie management for Firefox, and works very well ...

I use Safari but also Cookie which does pretty much the same. Safari also allows you to block third party websites. The only site that ever caused me problems was hotmail, which needed third party cookies to close properly. Now with Cookie I delete the cookies as fast as possible.

Yes, but that is a voluntary flag on the part of the web hosts. What Mozilla are talking about is actively blocking those cookies.

To be honest, even without the 3rd party cookies blocking turned on, I've never noticed that ads are targeted at me...

And, to be honest, this isn't about seeing more or less ads, this is about how much information those tracking sites can accumulate by watching me move from site to site.

I have nothing against ads being displayed, it is, after all, how many sites exist, without the ads, the sites would have to close, or I'd have to pay to visit them.

That's true for me, but then I do use per session cookies.

The thing is, this shouldn't happen. If you're on a desktop, surely you have multiple accounts? And devises like tablets and phones are considered personal devices that aren't shared (be that right or wrong).

It's not likely though, especially with a tablet. Even my mum uses my tablet, and that's a minor miracle.

Get a Windows tablet, it has multiple accounts. :lol:

So does any Android tablet running 4.2. We've found multiple accounts on tablets to be a mixed blessing though.
