Err.. this just means we're going to see more one-armed former aid workers. I think the people who kidnap aid workers are likely to be fairly ruthless about how they prevent themselves being tracked. If you've got a bunch of mean looking blokes standing there and the one with a big chuffing knife says "'Take it off or we'll take it off you ourselves", which do you think you're going to do?

Really? They think that's actually a useful thing to do under those circumstances? "don't kidnap this person, people might down vote you". It's technologically cool but the application is utterly idiotic. It might be useful to track your kids or a pet but someone in the arse end of nowhere whose been kidnapped by desperate people with guns and fecking great machetes? It's laughable.

It will automatically update their status to "being kidnapped LOL"

and if it does not move for a day it updates to "now only have one hand as kidnappers cut the other one off"

You can activate it yourself if you think you're in danger :?

Actually the concept is sound, but hopefully the kidnappers do not realise this otherwise they will get angry. Plus they invariably handcuff the hostages together or to objects so would find it pretty quickly. Best place would be on the ankle or around the waist.
