I know they need to raise money, but they'd wanna be very selective about what they sell; especially if it's to prop up some of the idiotic decisions they make in electronics. Though that's been getting better recently.

I heard about that suggestion from the hedge fund a week or so ago. It does seem that the original benefit of buying the studio has achieved its purpose and so now there is little benefit for Sony to own the studio. It does act as a huge distraction for Sony as to what they should be fixing within the company. I think that the problems with Sony are a lot bigger than simply selling off the entertainment side.

It could just split. Sony Entertainment / Sony Corporation. Just have two different entities, distinct companies.

Yes that could be done very quickly though the original suggestion was to actually divest the group of the movie studios, and so that might mean a reversion back to the old studio/company name as they might not want another Sony out there.
