Well, if anyone can afford it, they can. A bit too Buck Rodgers for my taste, but fair play to them for pushing the boundaries a bit. I'll be amazed if it gets planning permission in its current form though but good luck to them.

I would do this or something like in the circumstances. But the 10 car garage makes a bit of a mockery of the eco bit.

The eco cred could be improved with solar arrays/ wind turbines / hydro if practical, and heatpumps for heating and cooling.

Isn't there something about if the project is of enough design size and significance you don't need [planning?

I would do exactly the same. Not sure about the design though. As for the garage. It does not necessarily mean that they will be driving them all the time, plus they may be buying carbon offsets.

Reminds me a bit of ex-footballer Gary Neville's proposed eco-house that was going to be built only a few miles from me. I don't think he got planning permission in the end, despite it being considerably less ostentatious and more blended with the landscape than that one. I think they may struggle.
