I'm not surprised. Through personal experience and a vague recollection of them having supply problems, to their laughable prices on even the basics. And that's more often than not. Though some of Sainsbury's prices are even worse

I recently calculated that shopping at Waitrose would cost me ~£1000 more over the year, compared with shopping at Tesco. Unless they start to employ sexy drivers who perform erotic dance on the doorstep then I shan't be using them on a regular basis. Apart from the annoyance of items being out of stock and often bizarre substitutions, I find it hard to criticise any of them. The drivers from every company have always been surprisingly helpful and cheerful. I've not shopped in store for years now, so I'm only talking about on-line. |

Of the main four (Asda, tesco, Sainsbury & Morrisons), that's the order I'd put them in for the order I like to use them. Our local tesco's just doesn't feel right. It's still in the 80's. Morrisions is my favourite to shop in, even if they don't have the same size range of products that Asda has. There's a really nice cafe in one of the local Sainsburys. |

Yep, that's my order of preference too. Waitrose are hellishly expensive, compared with the other four - probably adds around 15-20% to the price of an average weekly shop. Never again. |

Unfortunately my wife likes to use Asda as their prices are fractionally lower than Morrisons, (even though she complains it's full of chavs) so we often end up there. I don't think she really takes the extra milage to get there into account though. |

I think they're planning on building a 2nd Morrisons in Derby. Unfortunately I believe it's going to be a town centre one. |

My preference is broadly the same, but when it comes to online shopping I split it between Asda and Tesco. While Asda are cheaper most of the time, their substitutions are dire, whereas I always come out on top if Tesco make any substitutions. All the delivery people are great regardless of whom they work for. Though I only do big staple shops online, so get top up shops from the Co-op and a Tesco express. My meat and veg are bought locally from independents. At some point I might try the other stores online at some point. Waitrose adds as much as 50% to my shop but if I were local to one of their stores I would get some things from there. I was in the big Tesco Superstore in Purley a couple of months ago and it was drab, it had everything I needed but was not what you could call a great shopping experience. The Asda's are fine, and cheaper, but price is not everything. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk. |

As far as supermakets go, I like meat and fish at Morrisons and anything from either them or Sainsburys. However I haven't been shopping in a supermarket for over 6 months as we use online shopping, leaving 25 min walk away from the nearest shop and up a hill! |

I got some lovely white fish from Tesco online recently, though online shopping makes sense when you can get delivery cheaper than you could spend on petrol. Plus the wear and tear on your car. |

Ocado/Waitrose do this subscription thing where you can get all your deliveries free for 6 quid a month. Given what they generally charge for delivery you only need to have one or two deliveries a month to justify it. If you're doing a delivery a week, it's well worth having. Ocado have a £40 minimum order for online deliveries. last I checked, the others all have a similar minimum? |

The "minimum" varies and I can't remember all the different details, but some stores just charge significantly more for delivery on small orders. I've never ordered less than £50 because it's not usually economical. Off-peak orders over £100 are free delivery with Sainsbury's. I'd advise against going near any supermarket on a Saturday, frankly. I don't think even this is going to transform even a Tescos to anything less than a vision of hell. |

I have yet to experience online/home delivery shopping from any supermarket. We used to go to either Morrisons or Asda. Then a Tescos was built so we go there now. Larger shop, more parking, less chance of door dings. I would say our local Asda store is in a worse state than the others. As for Waitrose, I've been in one once to buy some treats for family. Other than that, it's not a place I'd bother to go to. I remember in a uni-student area of Southampton, there was a Safeway. It was awesome. Nice cheap stuff and a weekly shop could be done for £10-12. For some reason, it was taken over and converted into a Waitrose. Because we all know how flush students are. |
