	Quote: The British National Party is predicting "one or two surprises" when the results of Thursday's English local election are revealed. The anti-immigration party is putting up 99 candidates and is defending one seat, in Burnley, Lancashire. Spokesman Simon Darby said the BNP had been "vilified" but had enabled debates on "mainstream" issues, including Europe, through its campaigning. He added that the party had received some "clonking" donations. The BNP, led by Nick Griffin, has suffered losses in recent local elections

I read that as a quote, i.e. Darby used the word 'clonking'.

It might be a regional term. I thought they meant stonking.

Me too, but standards have been slipping in the rush to take on... erm...

Well you would have thought that they would use something with a spell checker at least. Though if that is what the man said then we have to accept that spelling. He could have been taking lessons from Sarah Palin or GW Bush.
