Sometime ago I saw mention of using a private Bit Torrent network to distribute new films to cinemas. It would enable simultaneous distribution to the entire world at a fraction of the cost of producing negatives and security for each region. The main stumbling block was who was going to pay for the conversion to digital cinemas. |

And just like that, my friends theory that the movie studios aren't that bothered about bit torrent (and really, the people that make the stuff really aren't), because they're just getting us used to consuming media over that channel, and then the bait n switch will come - yeah you can have the torrent, but it'll cost you some trivial sum. |
