I've got to ask seeing as this was in America....
If the police saw the people responsible running away, why didn't they shoot them. It's the American way.

Did they see the baddies running away?

I agree they did the right thing, but I'm used to Americans shooting first and asking questions later.

I am not used to it, but still think running is the sensible thing to do. Harder target at least as well. What is it with the media accusing people of running from gunfire as having something to hide?
