I'm finding it hard to form a response to that...

The problem is that in the US they can still have late stage abortions in some states. It is also one of those subjects that inflames the media or the religious extremists.

Having got children I have to say late abortions sicken me, even though I'm very pro choice in general. Causing suffering like that is unacceptable as well as illegal.
If you're going to have an abortion, you need to have it as early as possible, and certainly within the legal time limit.
Personally I think there's a good argument for reducing the time limit.

On this example, are they going to charge the mothers for seeking an illegal abortion too?

So if he's black he should be allowed to get away with murder?
This just means they need to go after more white murderers.

The limit could be slightly lower in the UK as well. With modern technology foetuses can survive quite early on in the pregnancy. Even so in some states abortions are legal right up till birth. That is wrong but 24 weeks in these cases is a month later than we have in the UK.

Abortion is one thing but he was killing babies after they were born. That's murder.

The issue is that women that really want an abortion will get one, whatever it takes.
Either they can get an early, clean and safe one in a medical environment (most european countries)
Or they can go to shady butchers like this man, probably due to cost and lack of safe centres.

He is used as an example of why abortion should be banned by the "pro life" who demonstrate every single day outside Mary Stopes.

For the very same reason he is an example of why you need legal and affordable abortion. The US is almost backward in its treatment of women, especially if they are pregnant.

Yes but if you were to do the same with a similar doctor here in the UK you might find similar results.
